Oh, hello

About me.

My name's Katelynn A. Cragle, and I like to consider myself an artist. I've been drawing for all of the 17 years that I have been living on this planet.

I plan on attending the Academy of Art University in California to pursue a degree in illustration. After that, I hope to be a freelance graphic novelist. I know I probably won't go far, but it's something that I think I'll enjoy doing, and that's all that matters to me.

My Playlist

You can turn on this playlist while browsing through my site if you would like. It's some of my favorite music, so I hope you enjoy it.

Current Projects

Currently Drawing: " Nameless." A small shadow creature meets a rather frail-looking Blank named Cameron. The two set out together, tied to one another only by their simple curiosity, to find the name of the little shadow and the purpose for his being.
" Never Grow Up." A short comic that portrays a deep-rooted if hypocritical opinion of mine on life.

Currently Writing: "Mirrors." When Théodore tries to transfer his soul into another body, things go awry.
"Manifest." Renee's dreams are starting to scare her. She wants to travel deeper into their depths and maybe find out why they're so troubling.

On Hiatus: "Psyche" is about a troubled boy with a strange habit of talking to himself. He's best friends with a nice, out-going Lebanese boy.

Killed Off (they will not be continuing): " Attic," A slew of metaphors about my life put into visual media.
" Mabel," a story about a bunny's lonely life.

Updates

2009

Monday, November 16 - I am way too lazy to update this, seriously. Life events been hinderin' the ol' artin'. I may or may not actually go to college in San Francisco.

Tuesday, October 27 - Oh my god, I need to start updating this again holy hell. ANYWAYS. I've been working on a new-ish comic. It's called "Nameless." I won't be uploading anything to the internet for a while.

Saturday, August 29 - Aside from forgetting to add updates, lots of thing have been going down for me. I added a bunch of adopts to Squiby again, but now I can't add any more because I can no longer get to the files I needed for them. Tragic to say the least. This was mostly because my computer finally crapped out on me. Fortunately, however, I was able to gather up enough cash to pay for a new tower which should ship by Friday (9.4.09) I also have added a BRAND NEW PAGE to my website!! *audible gasps of disbelief* Yeah, I know you all think I'm a dead beat. Shut up. >:C

Thursday, August 6 - Added "Peppermint Jack" to my original art account on Squiby.
I actually had the second stage sitting around in a folder, haha. I saw it and was like, "Ohh neat. I'll finish that one."

Saturday, August 1 - Added two prints to my art sale section.

Thursday, July 23 - Yessss finally doing stuff again. Whoop. Anyway, I updated two comics. Never Grow Up and something else I'm starting called "Attic."

Friday, July 17 - I haven't done much, recently. I made a new comic at Smackjeeves if you want to see it, though.
It's called Yet Another and it's a Pokemon Adventure Comic parody.
I also updated my commission info at FA. It can also be found here.

Sunday, July 5 - I haven't really done much lately. I uploaded a species chart for my dragon species "HiitViizen" to DA.
Also, check Squiby often for updates on my Pokemon adoptables.

Monday, June 22 - Oh my gaaaawd, you guys. I drew a SHITLOAD of Pokemon for Squiby. They be here.
I also did a bunch of stuff with Zac.
Aka VectorCat, aka Musical-Spoon. Check his stuff out.

Saturday, June 6 - I uploaded a few things to DA, including a comic page for Bullshit.
I also added a print to my Art For Sale section.
I'm pretty sure I added another page to Never Grow Up, too.

Sunday, May 31 - Another Squiby adoptable, this time a bunny fashioned after a cannoli.

Wednesday, May 27 - I added two new pages to Never Grow Up: [1] [2]

Monday, May 25 - Shitload of Een updates (if three is a shitload). [1] [2] [3]

Sunday, May 24 - I added another adoptable to Squiby. The Chik-An, based off Chickenteeth's fursona.
I also updated Never Grow Up.

Wednesday, May 20 - Added yet another adoptable to Squiby yesterday, the Pixie Dragon.
I also added couple pages to Never Grow Up, which is part of a collection of one-shots I'm doing.

Saturday, May 16 - Added another adoptable a couple days ago to Squiby, as well as two requested ones.
I also updated my Idiot of Een sketches yesterday. [1] [2]

Wednesday, May 13 - Found and fell in love with a comic called Cheap Thrills. Give it a read.

Tuesday, May 12 - Added two new adoptables to Squiby, a "Ribbon Kit" and "Shiny Pink Pokeball."

Saturday, May 9 - Re-drew two pages to Mabel.
Created a site at Smackjeeves for the redrawn version.
Drew some sketches [1] [2] for The Idiot of Een.

Wednesday, April 29 - Added five pages to Mabel.

Art: Opinions on Comicbooks

Art is something I adore and admire. As you're probably able to tell (especially if you've known me for any length of time) I absolutely love comicbooks. I will read anything you throw at me. Even if it's terrible. I'll SAY it's terrible, but I'll still read it. I'm still not very learned in the way of great graphic works, but I have run across a few things that I believe you really should take a look at.

Secondly, there is one graphic novelist in this world who deserves the recognition of all comicbook fans everywhere. Craig Thompson is an amazing writer and his style is visually appealing and filled to the brim with emotion. His first book that I would like to share with you is called "Goodbye, Chunky Rice." You can download it here. If there are more comics in there, feel free to read through those as well.
"Goodbye, Chunky Rice" is very emotionally powerful. I cried during it, I'll admit. I very highly recommend it, and it's not even a very large comicbook. If you have the time, this is something you NEED to read. Besides that, there is also his other great book, "Blankets." A true novel, it is several hundred pages long. Beautiful and elegantly written, Thompson tells his autobiography in "Blankets." After you've read "Goodbye, Chunky Rice," you'll WANT to read "Blankets."
And every second spent on each book is worth it.

Something else entirely, however, that you should look at is work by my friend Tori Ward. She's a devout comicbook artist, and she's very good at what she does in my opinion. I think if she stops worrying so much about conforming into the mainstream comic world and just focuses on her ideas, she could become something enormous in the future. It's not about conforming, it's about MARKETING and having lots of beautiful talent. She's probably the best illustrator I've known personally or impersonally on the web. Anyway, take a look at the only comic she has out publicly currently, Fledgling. And recently, she just got her FIRST EVER comicbook printed! It's out currently, and the site for it is here. Go and buy it. It is amazing even if it's really short. I'm going to keep nagging her about it too because I can't wait for future issues. The whole book itself is insanely pretty, and it is just a neat little booklet to have.

Art for Sale: Prints and Commissions

Commissions are open.

Icons: $3
Drawn at 400x400 and resized to 100x100. You get both images and stuff. Let me know if you want anything fancy, like a 50x50 of just one side of the face or something, borders, text and whatnot (FREE OF CHARGE because it's dumb to make people pay for that, it takes three seconds).
Icon for Shenzi Icon for Epyon_X

Sketches: $3
Sketchy-lookin' junk!
100 Sketchmeme - 011 to 014
100 Sketchmeme - 025 to 028

Lineart: $8
Inky-lookin' stuff. Not typically sequential, though, 'cause that'll earn the status of "comic."
"Harbored Hatred" - this is a good example of digital lineart, but this is sequential, so it's actually a "comic" in the simplest sense of the word. I'd price this around $13. "Sexyyy"
"Bullshit"

Flat Color: $10
Lineart with flat color and no shading :3
"Space Cat" - Really old, ignore the horribleness.
HiitViizen Ref

Cel-Shaded: $15
Lineart, color, and plain cel-shading.
"hi i'm bored"
"High Definition"

Digital Painting: $35
I don't do these often, and I typically do not enjoy them. Sorry if the price seems a little high, but that's why. I do put a lot of effort into them, though, so don't worry about it.
"Our Place" - SUPER DOOPER OLD.
"A Match and Aerosol" - Drawn at Tegaki E.

Complex Drawings: $25
These are just usually drawings that I put a little more time into with very little brush shading and more cross-hatch-like shading. Smeary backgrounds or solid-color backgrounds are usually what I do, but I think monochrome or grayscale really works best with these.
"Dream Bird"
"Vomit"

Traditional Ink Drawings: $15
I do lots of inky stuff in my sketchbooks and for comics and whatnot, but I never do plain old lineart traditionally. I only do things traditionally if they're going to be a little fancier. You can ask for hatch shading, filled in backgrounds (I'll pity my sharpie, though) and all manner of ink-involved shenanigans. Some examples of more complex ink drawings:
"You got a sweet ass..."; part two - ignore the name :|
"Ink Dragons"

Comics: $15 per page
I do not encourage you to load me down with something that'll sap my interest, energy and willingness to do it. I'd say... maybe a two-page thing would be fine, but after about 4 pages, I'd just start getting sick of it. There are comics all over the place that I've done, but here are some media-specific examples.
Traditional ink comic.
Digitally drawn and colored/shaded comic. - this one's kinda old and I can see the errors in it, but it's still a good example.
Digital comic example twoooo - another oldie, but this one has color.

Policy Notes
I will NOT draw:
1. Porn. If you're looking for porn go here.
2. Fetish-specific pictures that aren't necessarily porn.
3. Animu.

I do not enjoy drawing but WILL draw:
1. Over-the-top crap (eg: sparkledogs/furries/animals whatever)
2. Glam
3. Emo
4. Pretty much anything pertaining to a certain trend.
5. Anything political.

I LIKE to draw:
1. Humanized anthros without digitigrade legs.
2. Animals in general.
3. Goofy or silly things.
4. Sooper srs bsns is fun too.
5. "Deep" or "profound" things also tend to catch my interest.
6. Female or male nude/partially clothed pin-ups. THIS DOES NOT MEAN PORN.

Now, obviously it's not limited just to what I like to draw, but keep those things in mind if you want me to get it done faster. The more I enjoy working on something, the quicker it'll get done. :3

Note me at Furaffinity with the details of your drawing. Include anything you want like pose, number of characters, single character or multiple character pieces, and script if it's a comic. OH MY GOD, ADOPTABLES

My Squiby Profile

$1 Donation Pokemon at Squiby.net

(This section has been removed from my profile at Squiby because frankly I am sick and tired of people mailing me for passwords and harassing me about having to pay.)

These are adoptables that I am drawing ahead of all the others as a way of making some extra money for when I go to college (18-30k tuition per year, so I have some saving to do) and also as a means of motivation toward finishing the entire Pokedex. All of these adoptables will be password protected and the passwords will change with each new donation. If you don't have any money, don't worry. These will become free for everyone once I finish every Pokemon in the 'dex that comes before them. However, donations now would really be appreciated, and it would also motivate me to WANT to work on these (aside from my obvious love for Pokemon).
How this works. You can get one Pokemon for $1. If you want two Pokemon, that's $2. However, you can adopt whatever basic form Pokemon as many times as you want. If, for example, you want a Chikorita, Bayleef and Meganium, you only need to donate $1 once.
Payment. Log into Paypal send the amount for however many adoptables you're getting to my email irrisorie7@gmail.com. The email should tell me the paypal user who is donating. Send me a mail at Squiby confirming that it was you, then also say which Pokemon adoptables you want so I can give you their passwords and you can adopt them. Once you have finished adopting them, let me know and I'll change their passwords.
Commission a Pokemon. If you want to commission a Pokemon that's far away from where I'm currently at in the 'dex, mail me at Squiby which Pokemon you would like. A Pokemon that does not evolve (a pokeball and hatched stage) is $3, a Pokemon that evolves once (two stages) is $4 and a Pokemon that evolves twice (three stages) is $6. You can either have it remain private and only for you, or available as a donation Pokemon.
Questions? If you have any questions, please contact me at Squiby. There is also a FAQ here; please consult this before mailing me. Otherwise, feel free!
