Ran was born in 1981 in February on the 13th. The story takes place in its most modern year in 2008. It starts off in the year 1993, when Ran is 12 years old. Ran is an artist. He draws and paints quite a bit, and thoroughly enjoys it. He's very introverted and spends excessive amounts of time in his "study" drawing and painting what he sees in his head.
Render
Render is an entity that seems to inhabit Ran's subconscious. His purpose is unclear and he isn't letting on. He has no definite age, but he appeared when Ran was 14.
Apparently, only Ran can see him. Render is a compulsive liar, and usually only lies to benefit himself. He seems to manifest the hatred, nonacceptance and loneliness that Ran always felt. He even resembles the boy in a lot of ways.
Ariól Doumani
Ariól is a new student who moved from Lebanon. His accent isn't very prominent since he was raised around people who spoke both English and Lebanese. He is fluent in both languages.
For the most part, Ariól is just a down-to-earth kid. He hasn't made any friends besides Ran, but that doesn't bother him. He's quiet like Ran, but compared to his friend, he's the out-going and talkative of the two.
Troy Sanders
Troy is the bully at Ran's school who constantly picks on the boy for reasons that Ran doesn't understand. He is two years older, but in the same grade. He's bent on making Ran's life a living hell.
Merrihl Rynehert
Merrihl is Ran's mother. She's extremely apathetic about her son's well being and doesn't usually respond to him in any way unless it expresses annoyance or apathy. She is a sloth, lying about the house all day as her husband works and Ran is at school. If she had a theme song, it would be "Vicarious" by Tool.
